A 4.5-year research project aims to evaluate this new approach and implement it in a pilot by 2027.
The objective is to further support climate protection despite the rapid increase in goods transport by shifting the transport of goods increasingly to rail transport, and more precisely here, to the tram-train. The use of an autonomous delivery robot on the platform for loading and unloading should enable this combined transport of people and goods and use existing infrastructure.
TTK is a project partner and in charge of analysing the economic and ecological effects of combined passenger and goods transport on the overall system in the Karlsruhe region by comparing various scenarios with the status quo.
