An extension of the Metro line 14 in the south region of Paris?

The southern extension of Metro line 14 currently under construction will provide an efficient link to Paris from Orly airport. However, for technical reasons, the infrastructure for line 14 extends beyond the airport area, to a new depot currently in construction in the municipality of Morangis.
Following one of the conclusions of the public inquiry into line 14, regarding the technical and commercial extension of the line to serve northern Essonne, TTK studied between 2020 and 2022 the opportunity for the opening of an additional station on the extension of metro line 14 in the municipality of Morangis
This new station would make it possible to open up the northern Essonne municipalities to the south of the Orly airport platform, to facilitate access to employment centers on and to the north of the airport platform as well as in and around Morangis. It will also reduce the problem of saturation of road infrastructures and limit transit traffic within the municipalities offering efficient, direct and suitable public transport for employees and students to the north, improving access to the new regional rapid transit metro line, and meeting the objectives of the Paris-wide Low Emission Zone.
However, this project would be implemented on an infrastructure in functional operation and on a quite limited space. This would have significant consequences in terms of technical solutions, induced cost and on the operation of an existing main public transport line.
The completion and implementation of this new station are largely bound to more advanced technical studies but also to the removal of legal and financial obstacles for the realisation of these ulterior studies and the final green light.
With the official inclusion of the new station project at Morangis in the Regional Master Plan (SDRIF), the Region is inviting the State and the Société du Grand Paris to take up the subject. If the SDRIF is approved this summer, studies and a public enquiry lasting at least a year will be launched.
